Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator
2004
I'm having trouble installing and using Addit! Pro
with Windows 7/Windows Vista. Any suggestions?
Windows Vista FAQ
What is necessary to run Addit! Pro on Windows 7/Windows Vista?
The latest releases of
Addit! Pro are fully compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Vista:
Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator X, version 7.0.11+
Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator 2004, version 6.5.2+
Earlier releases of Addit! Pro For Flight Simulator 2002,
Combat Flight Simulator 2 and Flight Simulator 2000 may not be 100% compatible.
Do I need administrator rights?
Yes, administrator rights are necessary to properly run Addit!
Pro. Be sure your login account belongs to the Administrators group. Note a "standard" user
is not sufficient, only an "administrator" will work flawlessly.
User Account Control (UAC)
User Account Control can either be enabled (default) or disabled:
- Click Start then Control Panel.
- Select User Accounts then Family Safety then click on User
Accounts.
- Under "Make changes to your user account", click "Turn
User Account Control on or off".
- Check or uncheck the box "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help
protect your computer" then press OK.
What about permissions?
Folder and file permissions can pose a problem if Addit! Pro does not
have adequate authority to write to data files. If you have trouble with Addit!
Pro installed to your preferred location, try changing the location to some
other drive and/or folder.
In addition, make sure the folder and files in your Flight
Simulator folder are not flagged as "read-only" as this will cause conflicts
with any application attempting to modify files there including Addit! Pro. From
Windows Explorer, select the FS folder and uncheck the “Read Only” button. Click
apply and it goes through and changes the attributes for the folder and the
files.
Shortcut compatibility settings
It may help to right click on the Additpro.exe file, select
properties, then open the compatibility tab and select Windows 98.
Addit! Pro installed fine but I'm getting a message
'Error #339: Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly
registered: a file is missing or invalid'. What should I do?
You probably installed an earlier version which could
fail to properly register certain DLL and OCX files under Windows 7/Windows Vista. First,
uninstall Addit! Pro then download and install
the latest version to correct the problem.
Otherwise, you can fix the error by following these
instructions:
First, be sure your login account has
administrative privileges (see above). Now, use the Windows Search feature to look for this file
under your Windows folder. Is the file there? If it is, you must first unregister then
reregister the component as follows:
- Close Addit! Pro if it is running.
- Press the Start button.
- In the search box type:
CMD
but DO NOT hit ENTER yet!
- Right click on the "cmd" icon up top and pick Run as
Administrator. This is very important.
- Click Continue to verify.
- In the DOS box, navigate to your Windows\System32 folder
by entering:
cd\windows\system32
- Verify the DOS prompt changed to
C:\Windows\System32.
- At the DOS prompt enter:
regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx /u
- You should get a pop-up indicating success. Now enter:
regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx
- You should get another pop-up indicating success. Now
close the window.
Run Addit! Pro. You may encounter a similar error but this
time with mscomctl.ocx. Repeat the procedure above to re-register this file,
too.
